Short answer: the most important rules for TikTok LIVE are: don't beg for Gifts, no still images or LIVEs without real interaction, no fake viewers or bought Coins, appropriate clothing and no dangerous stunts, no minors on camera and one account per creator. If you break the rules, TikTok can turn off your Gifts, restrict your LIVE or ban your account.
Why are the rules so important?
As soon as Gifts are involved, stricter rules apply than for regular videos. A violation can cost you money straight away: TikTok can temporarily turn off your Gifts, withhold Diamonds or not count a LIVE. If it happens again, your account can be restricted or banned. If you know the rules, you won't have that problem.
The most important rules in plain language
1. Don't beg
Don't ask viewers for Gifts in a way that puts pressure on them, and don't use illness, money troubles or sad stories to get Gifts. Promises like "at 10 roses I'll ..." that you don't really mean, or stunts that are only about Gifts, are not allowed either. Saying thank you for a Gift is of course fine.
2. No still images or low quality
A LIVE has to be truly live, with you on camera and interaction. Things that are not allowed include: a still image, only text, a dark or blurry picture, a fixed camera on an empty room, or playing a recording as if it were live.
3. Nothing fake
No bought followers, viewers or likes, no bots and no arrangements to send each other Gifts artificially. Only buy Coins in the TikTok app or on the TikTok website, never through anyone else. Cheap Coins through a back door are prohibited and often a scam.
4. Appropriate clothing and no dangerous stunts
Sexually suggestive clothing, poses or actions are not allowed, and the rules are stricter as soon as Gifts are involved. Dangerous stunts, alcohol or drugs on camera and intimidating others are also against the rules.
5. No minors on camera
LIVE is for ages 18 and over. Don't let children take part in your LIVE and make sure they don't appear on camera without supervision.
6. One account, one agency
With one account, you may be with one agency. Creating a second account to join another agency or to get around the rules is not allowed.
7. Stream from your own country
Don't pretend to be somewhere else, for example by using a VPN. Agencies may only support creators who stream in their own market. For Grow Connect, that is the Netherlands.
8. Other people's music and content
Don't play music, films or videos you don't have the rights to. Your LIVE may then be stopped or muted.
9. Battles with multiple creators
The same rules apply in a LIVE with three or more creators: no humiliating challenges, no sexual innuendo and no stunts that are only about Gifts.
What happens if you break the rules?
That depends on how serious the violation is. TikTok can:
- give you a warning;
- temporarily turn off your Gifts;
- end a LIVE or temporarily block your LIVE;
- withhold Diamonds or not count a LIVE;
- ban your account for serious or repeated violations.
Appealing
If you think a violation is unfair, you can usually appeal in the app from the violation notice. Explain briefly and specifically what happened. Be careful with people who promise to lift a ban: only TikTok can do that.
